Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A light bodied red wine with soft tannins. Aromas of strawberries, raspberries, strawberries, nutmeg, strawberries, and a hint of minerality. Flavors of strawberries, cherries, strawberries, black pepper and anise, and some strawberry notes. Why do I have this sudden craving for shortcake?
Awards
Gold Medal, Orange County Fair Commercial Wine Competition Silver Medal, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Vineyard Notes
90% Grenache from Dalton Vineyard, 10% Syrah from the Tanner Vineyard
Food Pairing Notes
Quail, game hens, or even good old chicken - and HAM! how about ham? (ham is like bacon, only it’s ham) - and for dessert, deep dark chocolate!

This is my go-to BBQ wine if I don't feel like a Rose and want something with a bit more depth. I love it chilled with Chicken or Pork Tenderloin.

88 points: Interesting blackberry nose, with cinnamon and raspberry. Strawberry and firm tannins upfront, with strawberry and raspberry from the mid-point through the finish of moderate length, with the raspberry notes lasting the longest. A very well-integrated 14.3%.

In short, a very enjoyable wine!

4/13/2009 rated 86 points: Black pepper, strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with minerally fruity flavors on the palate. A bit thin, but nice to drink and very pleasant with food. Pretty well balanced, no lingering heat or unpleasantness on the finish. Definitely requires a little opening-up time.
