Intense aromas of blueberries and raspberries are complimented by clove and cinnamon. Bright flavors of raspberries and a slight sour cherry flavor. Also some vanilla and smoky flavors. The mouthfeel is dry and tannic but just now beginning to soften. Finishes long with cherries and raspberries. (Hey - we gotta do a normal tasting note once in a while!)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE 2006 THAT WE DRANK... this is a blend of 46% Mourvedre, 36% Carignane and 18% Graciano ... not as aromatic as most TO wines ... but the palate and finish more than compensate! ... loaded with dark fruits, spices and cinnamon on the taste ... followed by the trademark lingering finish of TO wines ... another well made balanced blend from Scott and El Jefe ... too bad for us it was a sellout ... but the 2007 vintage is on the horizon! PS ... hey Jeff if you read this, I'll take the 6 P17's you offered me from your library!

This is about the 2006 P17. We were saving it for a dark night without baseball. The beginning of a long, dark winter that will only end with the first weekend of April. Almost black in color with a plum and blackberry nose. Good core of acids in the mid-palate balance the tannins and the oak-accented fruit. Cleansing dryness and a good finish. We enjoyed it with a ragout featuring eggplant, white squash and artichoke hearts in a tomato vodka cream sauce. We let it decant in the bottle for two hours before serving. Several of the longest hours of my life so far.
