I love this wine. This is my second favorite Twisted Oak wine right behind the Spaniard.

I have to agree with Jim above. This wine is terrific, but much as I'd like to say it's my favorite, The Spaniard is even better. Still the wine that bears my name is awesome, thick and exotically spicy and a little fruity – just like me! remember, Chumbuckets are deep, and they have an air about them.

Please find a short report on the 09 Chumbucket. We opened this last night, pairing it with spinach lasagna. When we first tasted this wonderful mashup, Philip and I knew that it had to go down for a long time. After letting said “Chum” breath for 45 minutes, we gave it our first taste. As gangly as a 13 year old boy, the nose gave a sign of greatness. Through all our tasting, the nose was deep, somewhat floral and clear. The first mouth was the gangle but it’s parts were choice. Lots of berry, lots of jam, lavender and CHOCOLATE. It was only on the 2nd taste, 1 hour after opening, was I able to experience the distinctive copper terroir of Calaveras. The berry almost disappeared as had the lavender and the spice came way forward. At an hour and a quarter, the true structure of the wine began to show. The lavender came back and there was much more balance. You folks are really on to something with the Chumbucket. We have 3 more bottles of the 09 but will leave them alone for another year.
